Design, Art, and Photography Matter
I worked with a great team of people on the packaging of BEAUTIFUL and WILD. It takes time and good fortune to find the right people who might give you a deal and really get the music so that the visuals pop out like lovely candy.I LOVE the package of this album! I got so lucky to work with these folks:
Stacie Huckeba lives near me in East Nashville, she’s a photographer and videographer who has worked with so many great people in music.. Todd Snider, Jon Byrd, and Rod Picott are a few who come to mind right away...there are many others. She’s incredibly good humored – I misspelled her name on the CD credits, and she just laughed it off, “I”ve never been called STACKY Before-I might run with that” hahaha. I adore her and her work. We are currently working on the video for the song Beautiful and Wild. http://www.imagesbystacie.com.
I found a designer gem down in Atlanta thanks to my Norwegian agent, and friend Camilla. http://www.cuplicity.com. I had talked to a few different people I really liked, who also really liked my music, but the timing wasn’t right, or the price was too much for my peanut budget.. I was at a loss when I found Adam Pinney. He was easy to work with, had great ideas, and a vision. We moved fast together, and he did a killer job. http://adampinney.carbonmade.com
Last but not least, I had the greatest gift of all offered to me from a great friend, painter, and now a Mother! Kylie Harris is married to Marco, the drummer/producer for Beautiful and Wild, so maybe it was a natural fit that she said,Yes I’d love to” when I asked if she’d paint an original for the cover. She had been hanging out during the recording of the album, and sang on a couple tracks, and the truth is I engaged her and Marco way back when, so we are tight! I love her work, to me it has a child-like surreal quality –and I can relate to that viewpoint. http://www.etsy.com/shop/Kylieharris
