Lyrics For Sidewalks
This is one of those very personal songs that I'm always amazed that people relate to. I think the melody is the connector on this one. The Summer of 2009 was a tough one, had a great family member laying sick and dying in Baptist Hospital of Nashville, and I spent a lot of time going back and forth. It was a very hot summer - so hot that when I looked at the streets and sidewalks they seemed to melt. I viewed the city in a really diffferent way during that time.
SIDEWALKS Amelia White
I’m caught in traffic while the city sun makes the sidewalks melt
One of those summers where the pretty girls wear their long hair up
All down the boulevard the lights are green I could fly away
A little whisper buzzing in my ear say’s all we have’s today
CHORUS:
Writing down your name in the sidewalks of the shiny/stormy/ city
We’ll keep you just the same in the sidewalks of the city and the sidewalks of our minds/hearts
I heard the news about you yesterday I watched the sky grow dark
Three crows went flying in the angry wind I felt my beating heart
CHORUS
Why does the sun have to shine on this? Here under neon lights she’s with your
Every breath…in the sidewalks of the saddest city
She’ll keep you just the same in the sidewalks of the city and the sidewalks of her heart
I’m caught in traffic while the city sun makes the sidewalks melt
There in your bed of white you fell to dreams
They put your long hair up
