SAINT CHRISTOPHER
Saint Christopher carried the child with the weight of the world on his shoulders across the river and back home. I already had this song started, and had been using the name Saint Christopher in the chorus, becuase my good friend Cheryl who had passed away had his image in some of her personal writings and books. I looked up Saint Christopher and read that description and how he was also the patron saint of travelers, and I was blown away by how well that fit the theme of this song. And as in other tunes on this album, alot of the textural darkness comes from being on the road alone with not a bunch of money to pad the grim reality of life on the highways.
SAINT CHRISTOPHER ( Amelia White)
1.Oh my God I've fallen on a bad road. Oh my Lord I'm burning down a dark star, Oh my Soul I'm driving dizzy in a fast car. Can't find my way back home
Rows of gold, picked apart by black crows, your lucky smile is fading in my rear view mirror. If I could find my place on this beat up map I could feel your memory clearer.
I don't know what's happened to us baby, I"ve fallen from your grace, i don't know what's happened to the soft and holy light
CHORUS
Saint Christopher carry me over the river and home:||
2. Beat up girls keeping their secrets under the streetlights; freeway tides whisper that this day is done; hotel bed gonna rock me sorry into the sun
I don't know what's happened to me baby I've fallen from your grace, I don't know what's happened to the soft and holy light
CHORUS
.... I'm stoned I'm black, I"m blue way far down, and so not over you, not over you
