Welcome to the new AmeliaWhite.com!
Welcome to my new website designed with supreme talent by my buddy Erle Mulligan. I’ve been living solely off the land of ReverbNation and Facebook for too long , and it’s great to have a piece of real estate to call my own again.
Life is looking up as I own my domain name and also my own little casa in East Nashville. I have called East Nashville my home now for 11 years, I’m proud to be part of the vibrant community of artists here, and I feel right at home as the cicada season closes and the hot stormy summer settles in. Got a couple chigger bites on my right ankle just to remind of my location.
Talk a look around the site, in fact stop by often as I plan to make this spot THE SPOT - where I’ll be keeping you in the loop of my left of center brain and crazy comings and goings. I will be posting some wacky videos of life on the road and some new live performance videos, as well as some from my illustrious past. I will be selling my music here, and though you can get it elsewhere those other places will take a cut of my beer money. You will be able to hear samples of my music, make smart-ass comments on my videos and blogs with your Facebook account, and hopefully get to know me a bit better. Thanks to Erle and his technical prowess I have finally entered 2011.
I spent the early part of the winter in DAGOTOWN recorders. That’s the home studio of my good friend Marco Giovino who lent me his fine ears, sensibilities, and drumming talents all to create a new album called BEAUTIFUL and WILD. Marco had a few opinions (very surprising for those of you who know him) and between his and mine, and a tight knit group of my favorite bad-ass Nashville cats we made a gorgeous dark, and emotional collection of tunes. The title comes from a song I wrote for Duane Jarvis in March of 2009 as he spent his last days on earth. He passed away on April 1, (cancer) and the song was in the mail on its way to him, as I thought it might help him let go. Duane was a really special guy who was always so encouraging of my work and so many other peoples. He was ridiculously talented and had a real spicy rockin stage presence. He also wrote great songs and I loved his deep unique singing voice. I was lucky to have gotten to tour and write with him some, and have him liven up my show with his twangy soulful guitar work. I miss him so, and it’s fitting to me that the album be named after the title of the song I wrote for him. One of the themes the album is loss with all of it’s ache, and the way that it sheds new light on our lives.
BEAUTIFUL and WILD will be coming out officially in Winter of 2012, I will be slowly filling you in on the making of it, and all the great players and singers who worked on it. I’ll tell you about the songs, and what fueled them and how they came out for me. I co-wrote four of the eleven tracks and I’ll tell you about the writers and what that session was like. You can’t even imagine how amazing this process can feel to me, so many things about being a creator feel so rich that it can make up for the nickel and dime salary, at least as long as I can eat and oh yeah, of course drink.
So, welcome to my world, come on in kick off your shoes, make yourself at home, knock on the door often!
